Saskatchewan Roughriders Camp Opens Without Andy Fantuz
In an interview with TSN, Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant said it would be impossible to replace the experience of Fantuz, and chemistry he had with the Chatham native, something he said will take a group effort from the Roughriders receiving corps.
Last season, Andy Fantuz was the CFL’s most outstanding Canadian and lead the league in receiving yards, something he hoped to take to the Chicago Bears of the National Football league this season; however, the NFL lockout has stopped that progression thus far.
For now, the Roughriders are left to prepare for their season and look for replacements for the absent Fantuz, while Andy Fantuz himself is left with question marks, and nothing to do but train and prepare for whenever the NFL lockout ends.
Other Roughriders in camp echoed Durant’s words stating that Fantuz is irreplacable in the Saskatchewan lineup, but that task will land, at least temporarily, on either Jordan Sisco or Obed Cetoute, the two current front runners for Fantuz’ first string roster spot.
