U-15 Chatham Attack Left Frozen by Blizzard
The U-15 Chatham Attack were on the road Friday night in Strathroy taking on the Middlesex United Blizzard under the lights. Chatham was hoping to build on their season opening 3 game win streak, but were short handed and had not played a game in almost 2 weeks.
The Blizzard came out fast and furious and caught the Attack flat footed and napping. Chatham did not get organized quickly enough and allowed an early goal on minutes into the game. Down 1 – 0, Chatham settled down and by the end of the half they had gotten back into the flow of the game, but could not get a decent shot on the Strathroy goal.
Chatham was hoping to pick up the pace in the 2nd half , but instead found themselves again chasing the Blizzard who controlled the majority of the play. After giving up a 2nd goal midway through the 2nd half, Chatham had no choice but to push their defence forward to try and generate some much needed offence. The plan somewhat backfired as Chatham was caught outnumbered and undermanned at the back and conceded three more garbage minute goals in the last 5 minutes of the game.
The 5 – 0 loss will hopefully serve as a wake up call for the Attack before they are back in action at home on Friday. Chatham still has a hold on first place with a 3 wins and 1 loss record.
