Former Cyclone Accepts Hockey Scholarship at TWU
Last season, Joshua Gordon was patrolling the ice in a Chatham-Kent Cyclones jersey as a member of the Cyclones’ Major Midget ‘AAA’ program. Next season, Gordon will be skating in British Columbia after he accepted an academic and athletic scholarship to Trinity Western University to play for their men’s hockey team.
Gordon was 4th last season in scoring on the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Major Midgets, totalling 5 goals and 14 assists for 19 points in 33 games. Gordon also brought a tough presence to the ice for the Cyclones as he finished second on the team in penalty minutes with 92.
Gordon also played as an All-Star at the Windsor Canada Cup Tournament during Christmas Break last season, and won the skills competition goal scoring champion.
The Trinity Western University Spartans finsihed 5th last season in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League. Gordon, who flew to Trinity Western earlier this year to finalize the deal, will be one of the team’s youngest players next season as he will play the first months of the season as a 17 year old freshman.
