Let the Celebration Begin, Wallaceburg Kraft Celebration Tour Details Released

After rallying all of Wallaceburg and Chatham-Kent together to defeat Trenton for a spot on TSN’s Kraft Celebration Tour, local organizers are ready for the main event August 20^th. TSN and Kraft will travel to Wallaceburg for a live TSN SportsCentre broadcast from Crothers Conservation Area, as well as an afternoon of Kraft events.

Kicking off at 4:00pm, Crothers Park will be filled with Kraft sponsored events and activities for visitors of all ages including a sports field day, Kraft BBQ, free Kraft samples, TSN autograph session, music, check presentation, the live TSN broadcast which will take place at 6:00pm, and also, a celebration of the community of Wallaceburg,

“This event is truly about Wallaceburg. It was their support, all night voting and enthusiasm that won a spot on the Kraft Celebration Tour,” said Local Organizing Committee Chair Helena Vandevenne.

“For the community it provides an opportunity to shine, and citizens to be proud of where they live. I have watched the TSN clip featuring Wallaceburg with many people and they have been moved to tears stating “that’s my town!” For local youth it provides an example of what hard work can do and that anything is possible.”

Excitement throughout the Municipality of Chatham-Kent has been building since the winning announcement came July 13 from a competition which totalled more than one million online votes between the two towns.

Wallaceburg’s stop, the first on the Eastern portion of TSN’s Kraft Celebration Tour, will feature TSN anchors Kate Beirness and Darren Dutchyshen. Just before the duo go on the air, Wallaceburg officials will be presented with the other reward for winning the online vote, a check for $25,000. The money is earmarked for renovating an old tennis court located on the back campus of Wallaceburg District Secondary School to an outdoor lacrosse and sporting facility.

When the check is presented, and the TSN and Kraft Celebration begins in Wallaceburg August 20^th, organizers, including Vandevenne are expecting an electric atmosphere, that will be fun for the whole family in Crothers Park,

“The Kraft Celebration Tour is a family friendly event. It is a time for families to come together and celebrate the community they live in. There will be activities for the kids promoting active living and also many features that celebrate Wallaceburg as a unique community. We want the community to show their pride, have a good time and as a bonus, all the days activities including the barbecue are provided free of charge, courtesy of Kraft and TSN.”

Although the event is being held in Wallaceburg, the Local Organizing Committee, spearheaded by Vandeveene, are inviting all residents of Chatham-Kent to the event, in recognition of the voting contribution and support that was felt from all corners of the Municipality and Southwestern Ontario,

“Wallaceburg is a part of a great community called Chatham-Kent. Let’s show the rest of Canada what a great place this is to live, work and play. Come out on August 20th and show your pride. It is the people of this community who worked to get us here and this is your time to celebrate.”
