Van Herk Swims Away With Bronze at Junior Provincials
Eleven year old Brendan Van Herk of the Blenheim Blast Swim Team swam away with a Bronze Medal in the boys 11 year old 200m I.M. at the Junior Provincial Long Course Championships at the Etobicoke Olympium last weekend with a personal best time of 2:46.81.
Van Herk continued his dominant performance with five other top ten finishes, completing all of his events with personal best times. Brendan Van Herk placed fourth in the 50m Fly ( 33.81) , sixth on the 50m Free ( 31.54) and swam to eighth place finishes in the 100 Fly, 200 Free and 400 Free.
Shania Van Herk placed eighth in the 14 year old girls 100m Back Final ( 1:11.04) and Justine Van Herk had a ninth place finish in the girls 16-17 year old 100m Back with a personal best swim of 1:08.67. Riley Johnson swam to a twenty-third place finish in the girls 14 year old 100m Fly with a personal best time of 1:11.67. Approximately one thousand eligible swimmers from across the province participated in the meet.
The team will be travelling to London to the Dr. Paul Hauch Invitational Swim Meet this weekend in preparation for the Junior Age Group Nationals in Montreal July 27- August 1.
