Fantuz Receiving Fan Attention, But May Be On Outside Looking In

The Chicago Bears held their first full team practice late this week, which included Chatham’s Andy Fantuz, and although the crowd may have been behind him, and Fantuz is reportedly impressing, he still might find himself on the outside looking in.

ESPN reported that cheers of “Throw it to Fantuz” could be heard as the Chicago Bears faithful got their first look of the season at many players, including quarterback Jay Cutler.

Unfortunately for Andy Fantuz, despite his talent and the undeniable belief he is an NFL ready receiver, the former Saskatchewan Roughriders star and CFL Most Outstanding Canadian, is already being pegged as the odd man out by some. Fantuz is sitting in a deep pool of Chicago Bears receivers including Roy Williams, Devin Hester, Earl Bennett, Johnny Knox, Sam Hurd, and Dane Sanzenbacher.

Andy Fantuz is still in the mix and will receive a long look during training camp and possibly into the preseason, however despite the positive fan fare, it is clear, at least according to many reports from Chicago Bears news sources and blogs, that Fantuz is still currently on the outside looking in.
