Griffith, Fox Start Camp With London Knights
The London Knights training camp is underway in preparation for the 2011-2012 season. The camp features Chatham-Kent residents Seth Griffith and Dane Fox.
Last season, Griffith was the Knights’ third leading scorer during the regular season and topped the team’s scoring list in their playoff loss to Owen Sound. Following the season, Griffith was selected to represent Team Canada at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships.
Fox conversly, has been at the centre of trade speculation this summer as many wondered how the young power forward would respond after being benched and sent home last season. Fox finished last season with 11 goals and 11 assists in 51 games.
As an additional Chatham-Kent tie to the London Knights, rookie Bo Horvat, who the Knights selected in the first round of this year’s OHL draft, will enter camp and will undoubtedly be on the Knights’ roster this season. Horvat’s family, who lives in Rodney, were originally from the Bothwell area.
Another familiar face in the London Knights camp will be Chatham Maroons goaltender Connor MacKinnon who is in his second season trying out for the Knights, playing 3 preseason games last year.
The Knights camp will feature a series of scrimmages Wednesday and Thursday running from 8:30am until 4:45pm each day at the John Labatt Centre. Friday the Knights will open their preseason schedule at home against the Sarnia Sting.
