- Chatham hockey player Tyler Roeszler, who last season played for Cornell University before signing a professional contract this summer in Sweden with Vita Hasten, faced off against and with some of the world’s biggest hockey stars this weekend in Sweden including Peter Forsberg, Henrik Zetterburgh, Niklas Kronwall, Niklas Backstrom, and Daniel and Henrik Sedin. - The Tilbury Vikings swam to second in Beach Grove continuing their strong summer swimming season after winning meets in both Dresden and Tilbury earlier this summer. Read more about the Tilbury Vikings’ performance in Beach Grove here…
- Chatham’s Andy Fantuz continued to grab both positive and negative attention at Chicago Bears camp for his on field play. A Chicago Sun-Times reported asked Fantuz a few questions following a workout, and we have the video. Watch Andy Fantuz’ Chicago Bears interview here…
- After much hype around the possibility of the Women’s Nations Cup coming to Chatham, the games eventually had to stay in Oakville. Chatham did host two successful Nations Cup round robin games last week, which sparked Rugby Canada and others to consider moving the final to Chatham. Read more about this possible move here…
- The dream season for the Wallaceburg Griffins Novice 1 lacrosse team came to an end as the week began. The young team was Wallaceburg’s first team to participate at the ‘A’ level in more than 20 years, however, the team had a tough go at provincials. - After defeating the Burlington Stampeders to advance to the Ontario Football Conference finals, the Chatham-Kent Cougars bantam squad captured a provincial title by defeating the Peterborough Wolverines in the championship game. Read more about the CK Cougars OFC win here…
- Bridget Carleton, Erica McFadden, and Janine Day, three women with ties to Chatham-Kent all won gold medals with Team Ontario at the Canadian Basketball Championships. Read more about these Chatham-Kent basketball stars here…
