Former Wallaceburg Red Devils goaltender Tye Belanger was selected in the recent National Lacrosse League draft, 16th overall by the Colorado Mammoth.

Belanger, a Mooretown, Ontario native, played 14 games for the Wallaceburg Red Devils in 2009 collecting 4 wins, 7 losses, 1 tie, and 1 shutout. From Wallaceburg, Belanger started his Junior A lacrosse career with the Brampton Excelsiors before moving to the Peterborough Lakers.

Last season, Belanger helped the Lakers to a strong season, including compiling a 11-7-1 record himself in net. Belanger also played 10 playoff games winning 6 and lowering his goals against average to 7.09.

Belanger will join another Wallaceburg Red Devils lacrosse graduate, Sean Pollock in Colorado after the long time NLL star was traded to the Mammoth earlier this September.
