Griffith, Fox Shine as London Knights Explode in Season Opening Win
Seth Griffith and Dane Fox opened the 2011-2012 OHL season with a bang Friday night each having multi-point games as the London Knights exploded offensively defeating the Saginaw Spirit 8-0.
Griffith, opened the scoring for the London Knights only 3-minutes into the game with a powerplay goal. In the second period, Griffith would add his second goal of the game, and assisted on a Ryan Rupert goal in the third, capping off a 3-point performance for the Wallaceburg native.
Dane Fox, who was at the center of much speculation this summer, and missed part of training camp for personal issues, showed he is out to prove something this season by scoring a goal and adding an assist in the game.
Rookie Max Domi scored a hat trick in the game, while Bo Horvat, who’s family has ties to Chatham-Kent, had a goal and an assist in the game.
London now travels to Guelph Sunday for their first road game of the OHL season before returning home next Friday to face the Sudbury Wolves.
Elsewhere in the OHL, Kyle Hope (Blenheim) was pointless with 2 penalty minutes as his Oshawa Generals beat the Kingston Frontenacs 5-1 to start their season.
