Suisham Shows Off Leg in Return From Surgery, Fantuz Makes a Catch
After recovering from an appendectomy, Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham returned to the Pittsburgh Steelers lineup for their final game of the NFL preseason. Suisham went 2-for-2 on field goals and extra points in the first half of the game as the Steelers went on to defeat the Carolina Panthers 33-17.
Suisham’s first kick of the game was a 52-yard bomb through the uprights. Suisham followed this up with a 31-yard kick.
In the second half, the Steelers replaced Suisham with rookie kicker Swayze Waters who kicked in Suisham’s place during his illness and surgery recovery. Waters was also 2-for-2 kicking field goals of 23- and 53-yards.
In other NFL news, Andy Fantuz was thrown to once as the Chicago Bears beat the Cleveland Browns 24-14. Fantuz made the catch and gained 13-yards on the play. In four preseason games, Fantuz caught both passes that came his way for a total of 19-yards.
Fantuz’ fate will be decided within the next 24-hours as NFL teams are required to get down to their mandatory 53 man roster by Saturday.
It sure seems like Shaun Suisham is ready for the Steelers’ opener, having recovered from the appendectomy. Hopefully, Fantuz impressed enough in the very limited time he was given, to secure a spot on the Bears’ roster. He certainly deserved more time than he was given!
