Lancers Speed to Victory at Tartan Invitational Cross Country Meet
The UCC Lancers captured the overall team title at the Tartan Invitational Cross Country meet in Wallaceburg Thursday. UCC grabbed compiled their win with strong team finishes in Senior Girls and Senior Boys, as well as Midget Boys in the 3rd annual event in Wallaceburg.
UCC’s Taylor McArthur won his second race in a week after dominating the Blenheim Bobcats Meet Monday. McArthur dominated the race, and was followed to the finish line by Bobby Zenick and Daniel Dykema of Wallaceburg who finished second and third respectively.
Darian Limb of Petrolia captured the Senior Girls race followed by Breanne Nicholas of Blenheim and Erinn Lee of Wallaceburg. WDSS grabbed the senior girls team title followed closely by UCC and CKSS.
The Junior races were controlled by Lambton runners as a pair of Petrolia racers finished 1st in both the girls and boys divisions, with runners from St. Clair also finishing well. Wallaceburg’s Ashley DeBakker was the top local finished securing 3rd in the girls division.
In the Midget Boy’s race, Petrolia’s Logan Buruma topped all runners, followed by Wallaceburg’s Nathan Outridge, and Josh Kellier of Chatham-Kent Secondary School. CKSS won the midget boys team title followed by UCC.
The Midget girls division was also topped by Petrolia and St. Clair runners, with Mariet Wierenga of the UCC Lancers coming in 3rd.
Local runners will now prepare for the Meet of Champions next Wednesday in Sarnia as the last pre-meet before the KCSSAA Championships which will be held in Blenheim on October 19.
