Tartans Remain Perfect, To Face Golden Hawks For Kent Title
The Wallaceburg District Secondary School Tartans senior football team maintained their perfect season defeating the Blenheim Bobcats 25-16 to advance to the Kent Football Final. Wallaceburg will face the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks for the championship next Saturday at 1:00pm in Wallaceburg.
CKSS managed to shutout the UCC Lancers in the other semi-final game 15-0.
In Wallaceburg, Jonah Pataki powered the Tartans offensively scoring 3-touchdowns in the game. Pataki rushed for 87 total yards, including touchdown runs of 18, 8, and 7-yards.
Troy Babcock kicked each of the extra points, and added a 30-yard field goal to round out the Wallaceburg scoring.
Blenheim’s Cam Aitken scored for the Bobcats on a 45-yard interception return. Bowdie Gardiner also had a long touchdown for the Bobcats scoring a 60-yard reception from Blenheim quarterback Ryan Brooke.
CKSS got a touchdown from Clarke Green, as well as an interception returned for a touchdown from Myles Robinson, but it was the team’s defense that was the story in their 15-0 win over the UCC Lancers. Connor Martin topped the CKSS defense with 6 tackles and two sacks, while Chris Moore had 5 tackles. The Golden Hawks forced 3 interceptions in the game, and also recovered two UCC fumbles.
Wallaceburg is 7-0 on the season, while CKSS enters the final with a 5-2 record.
