Wallaceburg Jumps Into First After Taming the Panthers
The Wallaceburg Tartans Senior Girls basketball team vaulted into first overall in their league after defeating the now second place John McGregor Panthers 45-40 Wednesday night in Chatham.
Erin Sarapnickas and Shauney Fischer both dropped in 14-points for the Tartans in the win, while Bridget Carleton had 16 for JMSS in the losing effort.
In the other senior girls basketball match up of the evening, the UCC Lancers dominated the CKSS Golden Hawks winning 59-37. Aryn Finley had 23-points for the Lancers while Alex Wolting and Leann Finley both had 12-points.
Shannon Gow and LaKeisha Cato each had 12-points for CKSS in the loss.
In Junior hoops, Wallaceburg again remained atop the league standings improving to a perfect 5-0 on the season after defeating JMSS 42-28. CKSS held off UCC in the other junior girls game, winning a low scoring 33-26 battle.
