CKSS and JMSS Eliminated from OFSAA Volleyball Contention, See Photos
Both the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks and the John McGregor Panthers saw their OFSAA volleyball hopes come to an end this past weekend as they were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the OFSAA championships.
In their opening game of the ‘AA’ OFSAA volleyball championships in Stratford, the John McGregor Panthers senior boys took to the court against St. Michael Choir, the 16th ranked team in the tournament, and walked off with a 2-1 win.
The Panthers won the opening match 26-16, 22-25, 15-12.
John McGregor continued winning in game two of the OFSAA volleyball tournament defeating Westminister 2-0. The Panthers swept the match 25-11, 25-23.
Facing the #1 seed Eden in their third game, the JMSS Panthers suffered their first loss of the tournament 2-0, with game scores of 25-15, 25-16. The next morning, JMSS ended their OFSAA pool play by defeating North York Jeffreys 2-0, with scores of 25-8, 25-19.
After finishing 2nd in their pool behind Eden, the John McGregor Panthers were eliminated by Madill 28-26, 25-15, 25-22.
In the OFSAA ‘AAA’ division, Chatham-Kent Secondary School suffered their only loss of pool play 2-1 to Upper Canada College, 25-17, 22-25, 13-15. The team defeated Colonel By, Maple Secondary School, and squeked by Bishop Ryan to qualify for the quarter finals.
In their 12th consecutive OFSAA volleyball appearance however, it wasn’t a championship year for the CKSS Golden Hawks as they were eliminated by Regiopolis Notre Dame 31-33, 21-25, 25-23, 21-25.
