Whitson Grabs Gold at World Sledge Hockey Challenge
Chatham’s Derek Whitson won a gold medal with Team Canada at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge Saturday in Calgary.
Canada defeated the United States of America 4-1 in the gold medal game. This was the second time the two teams had met in the tournament, with Canada winning their first game 3-1.
In the gold medal game, Canada’s Greg Westlake scored three times while Brad Bowden scored once and picked up three assists.
Whitson was held scoreless in the tournament.
