World Juniors Give Griffith an Opportunity to Climb Scoring Ladder
With the World Junior Hockey Championships underway, several stars from across the Ontario Hockey League are away with their National Teams.
Although Seth Griffith, who played for Team Canada at last year’s World Under-18 World Championships, likely wishes his name had been included on the Canadian selection list, his absence is an opportunity to climb the OHL scoring ladder.
Griffith is the leading scorer on the London Knights, and has been sitting in the top 10 in league scoring since the first week of the season. Already eclipsing his goal total from last season, the London Knights forward has a golden opportunity in multiple games including two against the Sarnia Sting, followed by a game against the Soo Greyhounds.
Griffith and the London Knights lost their first game without players at the World Juniors and World Under 17 tournaments including Scott Harrington (Canada), Jared Tinordi (USA), Vladislav Namestnikov (Russia), Max Domi (Ontario U-17), Bo Horvat (Ontario U-17), and Olli Maatta (Finland).
Unfortunately for the Knights, the game didn’t go as planned losing 6-1 to the Plymouth Whalers.
In the absence of these players, the London Knights coaching staff has put an “A” on Griffith’s sweater.
Currently, Griffith sits in 8th in OHL scoring with 26 goals and 20 assists in 34 games.
