Kings Top Comets in Comeback Win
After a few quiet weeks, the Great Lakes Junior C loop is now back in full swing. The Dresden Kings shook off the rust early in their game Friday night against the Kingsville Comets scoring three goals in the final three minutes of the third period to comeback and defeat the Comets 6-4.
Cody McPhail scored the game winning goal with only 24 seconds remaining in the third period. The goal was McPhail’s second of the game.
Veteran Josh Beatty opened the scoring for Dresden on the powerplay, followed by James Shelton who also tallied a powerplay marker for the Kings. Dillon Liberty and Taylor Sisson had the other goals for Dresden in the win, while Brandon Funk made 24 saves between the pipes.
Prior to the game the Dresden Kings retired Shawn Babcock’s jersey.
Tonight, Kingsville is back in action facing the Wallaceburg Lakers.
