Wallaceburg’s Shaun Suisham enjoyed his best kicking performance of the season Sunday against the Denver Broncos, however it wasn’t enough for his Pittsburgh Steelers to advance past the Broncos in their wildcard playoff matchup.

Suisham went a perfect 3-for-3 in the game, which the Steelers dropped 29-23 to Denver in overtime.

In the opening quarter, Suisham kicked a 45- and 38-yard field goal for the Steelers to put them ahead 6-0, a lead that was shot lived as the score at the half was 20-6 in favour of the Denver Broncos.

On the comeback in the 4th quarter, Suisham hit a 37-yard field goal before the Steelers scored a late touchdown to tie the game.

With only 3 seconds left on the clock, the Steelers opted for a Hail Mary play instead of a 60+ yard attempt from Suisham, however Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger didn’t get the ball off.

On the opening drive of the overtime frame, Denver quarterback Tim Tebow sent an 80-yard TD pass to Demaryius Thomas for the win.

Suisham is still under contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers for next season, although he is likely to encounter competition at training camp to keep his starting job after what many anylysts considered to be an off-year for the kicker.
