Three Chatham Maroons Headed to GOJHL All-Star Game

Steven Szekesy, Sean Myers, and Michael Verboom will represent the Chatham Maroons at the GOJHL Western Conference All-Star game January 30 in St. Thomas.

As well, Blake Blondeel and Evan Mascaro were named alternates, while Hunter Johnson will serve as the third goaltender for the game. Also Blenheim’s Brett Hope, who plays for the St. Thomas Stars will be participating in the game.

Sean Myers is the top scoring Chatham Maroons player this season accumulating 21 goals and 30 assists in only 37 games this season. Verboom and Szekesy are both rookies this season, coming from the Chatham-Kent Cyclones and Windsor Spitfires Major Midget teams respectively.

Verboom sits second in team scoring with 13 goals and 24 assists through 36 games, while Szekesy, a defenseman, has 3 goals and 20 assists in 37 games.

Brett Hope, who advanced to the Sutherland Cup finals last season with St. Thomas, has 12 goals and 25 assists in 36 games.

Puck drop is at 7:00pm on January 30, at Timken Community Centre in St. Thomas.
