Wallaceburg Basketball players Erin Sarapnickas, Shauney Fischer, and Lindsay Elliott, as well as Chatham baller Aryn Finley have been key contributers early on this season for the Windsor Valiants as they prepare for and begin their JUEL Basketball season.

In their first regular season game of the season, Wallaceburg’s Erin Sarapnickas, who starred for the WDSS Tartans senior girls team this season, lead all Windsor Valiants scorers with 11 points.

Although they ended the first quarter down by only one, 22-23, their opponent, the Blessed Sacrament Yellow Jackets proved too strong, defeating the Valiants 89-59.

In game two of their season, the Widnsor Valiants notched their first win, 74-67 over the Niagara Falls Red Raiders.

According to head coach Paul Levac, with their first game under their belt, the girls adapted well in game two of their season,

“The players recognized that the level of intensity stepped up a great deal in the opening game of the season. In the second game we were able to match the intensity, so that their efforts on the defensive end paid off. In balancing their record in the JUEL season, they have demonstrated that they are able to play at this level if their effort is there.”

The Valiants girls represent nine high schools in Windsor, Essex County and Chatham-Kent. The next JUEL Weekend is February 3-5 in Brampton, Mississauga and Oakville.
