Blades Make Statement, See Photos
The Blenheim Blades made a serious statement Friday night at home in front of a loud crowd of more than 700. After falling behind in the first period 2-0 to the Dresden Kings, Blenheim stormed back to crush the Kings, and more importantly, to narrow the Kings’ series lead to 2-1.
Cam Ross and Josh Beatty scored for the Dresden Kings in the first four minutes of the game, but the Kings would not find the scoresheet again until the final minutes of the game.
Blenheim fought back from the early 2-0 hole with second period goals by John McKillop, Tyler Clarke, and Justin Rossignol.
Entering the third period up 3-2, the Blenheim Blades again controlled the flow of the game with Neven Wiebenga putting Blenheim up 4-2, before captain Taylor Phillips scored a shorthanded dagger off a terrible giveaway.
Beatty scored his second of the game with less than 7-minutes to go in the third, giving life to the Dresden Kings, but Justin Rossignol ended any comeback hopes scoring an empty net goal with 37-seconds left in the game to make the final score 6-3.
Game 4 will take place Sunday night in Dresden. Dresden leads the best-of-seven series 2-1.
