The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks punched their ticket to the Kent Hockey Finals next week against the winner of Thursday’s semi-final between Dresden and Wallaceburg, after a 4-2 win over Ridgetown Monday.

CKSS jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by John Montgomery and Lucas Stanhope, before a slew of penalties put the Golden Hawks down.

Ridgetown would fight back in the second period, tying the game on goals by Steven Beenackers and Matt Clark.

Opening the third tied 2-2, the experience of the reigning champions took over. John Montgomery scored his second of the game to put the Golden Hawks ahead, before Drew Marlatt potted an empty netter to put the game away.

Dresden will play Wallaceburg Thursday in Dresden, to see who will face CKSS next week for the Kent championship.

On the girls side, the UCC Lancers defeated John McGregor 2-1. Jadeyn Martin and Jess Martin scored for the Lancers, while Katrina Heyink played solid in net collecting the win. Rebekah Coll scored the only goal for the JMSS Panthers.

Lambton-Kent (Dresden) will face Ridgetown Tuesday to decide who will face UCC in the girls final.
