Lemieux Scores Twice As Cyclones Tie Panthers
The Minor Atom Chatham-Kent Cyclones got themselves on the board in their Alliance Championship series against the Sun County Panthers Sunday in Essex.
After dropping game one of their 8-point series 2-1, Chatham-Kent fought out a 3-3 tie Sunday on the road. The game however would end as a slight disappointment as the Cyclones got out to a 3-0 lead before allowing the Panthers back into the game.
Darby Lemieux scored twice for Chatham-Kent, including a powerplay goal, in the second period to get the Chatham-Kent Cyclones out to an early lead. Assists on the goals went to Jaxon Boucher, Brendan Mairs, and Colin Kloostra.
Brendan Mairs then opened the third period scoring unassisted to put the Cyclones up 3-0.
Sun County however wouldn’t quit, scoring 3 unanswered goals to tie the game 3-3. With overtime solving nothing, the game would end in a 3-3 tie.
Sun County now leads the final series 3-points to 1.
Game 3 now returns to Chatham, March 21 at 7:30pm at Memorial Arena.
