The Boston Pizza Chatham Thunder U12 ringette team ended their season with a Golden Weekend at the Western Region Ringette Tournament in Guelph over the weekend. The Chatham Thunder U12 team went undefeated to bring home the top prize.

The first game of the tournament was against a strong St. Marys team. The Thunder pulled off an 8-7 win to start off tournament play. Abbie Chandler scored 4 for her team while Emily Raaymakers, Chantelle Legere, Rachel Benn, and Niyah Poole all added single goals.

Saturday brought two more wins for Chatham. The first game of the day was against Owen Sound securing a 704 victory. Sorcha Rountree, Niyah Poole and Emily Anderson all popped in single goals while Chandler contributed four. Chantelle Legere had four assists in this game.

Chatham defeated Kitchener in the third game of the tournament 9-0. Olivia Eskritt earned the shutout in this game in the net. Raaymakers and Chandler both scored hat-tricks while Legere, Benn and Rachel Carlton added single goals.

The Chatham U12 Thunder advanced to the gold medal game in 1st place to meet up with 2nd place St. Marys.

The girls played with determination and perseverance and in the end came home with an 8-6 gold medal win. Chandler led the attack with four goals, Raymaakers, Legere, Benn, and Evelyn MacKay-Barr all added single goals for the win.

Olivia Eskritt was in net all weekend for the Thunder. Regan Owen, Rountree, Carleton and MacKay-Barr played excellent defence all weekend to help secure the Championship.
