Griffith First Star in Dramatic Comeback
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith continued his OHL playoff dominance Sunday night leading his London Knights to a dramatic comeback win over the Kitchener Rangers.
After falling behind 4-2 heading into the third period, Griffith sparked a late comeback for his team and was named the game’s first star for his efforts, lifting the Knights to a 2-0 series lead.
After Josh Anderson pulled the Knights within one goal early in the third, Griffith took over. Shorthanded, Griffith received a pass from fellow star Vladislav Namestnikov and buried it behind Kitchener goaltender Josh Gibson to tie the game 4-4. The goal was Griffith’s 6th of the playoffs.
Tied with less then a minute left in the game, with overtime looking imminent, Griffith set up Scott Harrington who scored the eventual game winner with only 50 seconds left on the clock. The Knights would add an empty netter to end the game 6-4.
Griffith, who was plus two in the game, now has 15 points in 12 games and is plus 10 this playoff season.
Kitchener will travel back to London Tuesday for game 3 of their series.
