The London Knight likely didn’t expect to be tied 2-2 with the Saginaw Spirit heading into game 5 of their second round, best-of-seven series Friday night, but that’s exactly where they were.

Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith was clutch for the Knights in game 5, giving them the boost they needed to pull of a 2-1 overtime win.

Griffith, scored the London Knights only goal in regulation, scoring 2:59 into the first period, with assists going to Tommy Hughes and Vladislav Namestnikov. The goal marked Griffith’s 5th goal of the postseason.

After Brandon Archibald tied the game for Saginaw, the third period ended with the score tied 1-1, sending the game to sudden death overtime.

Only 4:58 into the overtime period, Griffith fed Namestnikov, who scored the winner.

Not only did Griffith finish with a goal and an assist, and a plus 2 rating, but he was voted the games third star, behind London and Saginaw goaltenders Michael Houser and Jake Paterson.

London will look to close out the series Saturday in Saginaw with puck drop at 7:11pm.
