Devils Handed Biggest Loss of Season
The Six Nations Rebels had the Wallaceburg Red Devils number from start to finish Friday night in OLA Junior B action.
Six Nations opened the game with four unanswered goals before Mike Myers and Dillon Lapointe got Wallaceburg on the board. With the score already 7-2 after one period, Six Nations turned it up in the second period scoring eight unanswered goals.
“Obviously, not a great showing tonight,” said Wallaceburg Head Coach Jamie Knight about his team’s performance. “We went with a short lineup, injuries just keep piling on and it’s tough to go up there with 16 runners. They are the defending champs, and they outplayed us most of the game.”
In the third period, Wallaceburg managed to get a little more offense, but Six Nations still outscored and outplayed the Red Devils. Brayden Hopkins, Joel Shepley, Clint Lamarsh, and Reid Miller had Wallaceburg’s third period goals.
Although the final buzzer sounded with Six Nations handing Wallaceburg a 22-6 loss, Coach Knight said their was some positives in the game,
“The boys played hard in the third period they outscored us 7-4 but we didn’t quit. Brayden Hopkins scored his first goal of his junior career which is awesome to see a kid who plays D get rewarded for his hard work.”
Wallaceburg will now prepare to welcome London to town Wednesday.
