Memorial Cup Dream Falls One Goal Short
One goal is all that separated Seth Griffith and the OHL’s London Knights from a Memorial Cup championship.
Shawinigan Cataractes forward Anton Zlobin ended the game at 17:51 of the first overtime beating London Knights goalie Michael Houser to lift his team, this year’s Memorial Cup host, to a championship. Zlobin also scored Shawinigan’s first goal of the game.
Wallaceburg’s Seth Griffith was held off the scoresheet in the 2-1 loss.
Griffith was the London Knights leading regular season scorer and scored the OHL championship clinching goal for the London Knights to send them to the Memorial Cup.
The Knights last won the Memorial Cup in 2005 as hosts.
