Lancers Edge Golden Hawks For Three Peat
The Ursuline College Lancers took home their third consecutive Kent Junior Football Championship Saturday afternoon on their home field narrowly edging the visiting Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks 15-14.
The two teams battled into a third overtime after being tied 7-7 at the end of regulation, taking turns starting downs at the opposing team’s 35-yard line during the overtime sessions.
UCC won the game as Jeremy Warnock won the game by punting the ball through the endzone for a single point to put the Lancers up 15-14.
During regulation, Kellen Kaniecki scored the Lancers’ touchdown on a 5-yard reception from QB John McCauley. Tristan Logan scored the CKSS touchdown.
In overtime, Dan Allman ran in a touchdown for CKSS before UCC’s Anthony Cunha answered back to keep the game tied.
There is no SWOSSAA for Junior Football ending the season for both teams.
