Senior Cougars Suffer First Loss, Juniors Win

Kicker Clark Green scored the only points for the Senior Varisty Chatham-Kent Cougars Sunday as they lost their first game of the season, 21-6 at the hands of the top ranked Twin City Predators.

Green opened the scoring for Chatham-Kent kicking an 18-yard field goal, before the Predators responded with three unanswered touchdowns before the end of the half.

After a scoreless third, Green hit a 30-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, but that is where the Cougars’ offense would end.

Facing Hamilton-Wentworth, the Junior Varsity Chatham-Kent Cougars grabbed a victory with a convincing 29-3 score.

Quarterback John McCaulley went 8 for 13, throwing for 203 yards in the game including two touchdown passes. Jake Lindley had a 64-yard reception for a TD, while Mat Postma caught a 24-yard pass for a touchdown.

Anthony Cuhna and Cody Miller were strong on the ground for the Chatham-Kent Cougars, with Cunha carrying the ball eleven times for 109 yards and a touchdown, while Miller had 10 carries for 132 yards and a touchdown.

Zach Kaniecki was a force on the defensive side of the ball picking up two interceptions and seven tackles in the win.

The Bantam Varsity Cougars suffered a tough loss to the Burlington Stampeders 44-0.

Next weekend is the Alumni Cougar Classic with all four teams playing at home on Sunday.
