CKSS Dominates Tartan Invitational Cross Country Meet

Chatham-Kent Secondary School runners were miles ahead of the competition at Tuesday’s 4th Annual Tartan Invitational Cross Country Meet.

The CKSS Golden Hawks won the individual titles in five of six divisions, team titles in four divisions, and the overall title at the local meet.

Rayne Kellier started it off for the Golden Hawks winning the midget girls division in a time of 13:12. Her teammate Miah St. Pierre was second crossing the finish line in 13:22.

In the midget boys division, CKSS’ Quinn Canella blew away the competition. Pierce Johnston, also of CKSS was second.

CKSS’ Olivia Henry edged Wallaceburg’s Georgia Bayliss in the Junior Girls race, passing Bayliss in the last hundred metres and winning with a time of 20:05.

Josh Kellier dominated the field in the Junior Boys race, finishing in 21:54, almost three minutes ahead of his brother, Cai Kellier, both of Chatham-Kent Secondary School.

CKSS continued their winning ways in the Senior Girls race as Meghan Harrogate crossed the finish line in 25:04 to capture her division. Carly Marsh of UCC finished second in the race.

UCC’s Justin Verburg snapped CKSS’ perfect day in the final race, capturing the Senior Boys crown in a time of 32:28. Greg Knight of CKSS was second.
