Seth Griffith wanted hockey critics to realize his spectacular season that saw him finish third in the OHL in goals, ninth in points, and become a draft pick of the Boston Bruins, was no fluke last year.

On the opening night of the 2012-2013 OHL season, Griffith achieved that scoring a hat trick as his London Knights defeated the Erie Otters 8-2 at the Budweiser Gardens in London.

Up 2-1 entering the second period, Griffith connected on a pass from Ryan Rupert to score his first of the game. Ten minutes later at 13:25 of the second period, Griffith scored again. As he was last year, Griffith proved dangerous on the powerplay popping the twine, with assists going to Bo Horvat, whose family originated in Bothwell, and Olli Maatta.

With only one second left on the clock in the second period, Griffith completed his hat trick scoring his third of the game, assisted by Scott Harrington.

Thamesville’s Dane Fox did not dress for the Erie Otters as he continues to recover from a broken foot he suffered during an offseason boating incident.

Griffith and the London Knights face the Guelph Storm Sunday at 2pm.
