Shepley Leads Hawks to SWOSSAA Semi-Final Upset

Kianna Shepley scored 18-points for the Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks in a 47-33 upset over the Northern Vikings Wednesday at CKSS.

After trailing Northern, who had defeated CKSS in their previous meetings this season, 12-8 after the first quarter, the CKSS Hawks went on an incredible second quarter run, not allowing a single point to lead 21-12 at the half.

In the second half, CKSS continued to pour on the pressure, and extend their lead to 16-points heading into the fourth quarter.

CKSS’ Sydney Gagner also had a strong game for the Golden Hawks, picking up several steals, and converting them into points for the Hawks. She finished the game with 11-points. Cassidy Emery and Michaela Robinson also contributed for the Golden Hawks, scoring 10 and 6-points respectively.

CKSS will now host Villanova Friday, November 16 for the SWOSSAA final. Tip off is at 5:30pm.
