Chatham Skaters Shine in Amherstburg
This past weekend, January 19-20, saw 18 skaters from the Chatham Skating Club compete at the Pat Abela-Lyle McPhedran Memorial Invitational Competition in Amherstburg. Chatham skaters took home 17 medals in StarSkate, WO Restricted and Interpretive events.
Paige Newman competed in the Starskate Gold Triathlon, which is comprised of three events. She received 3rd place in Creative Skating Skills, 5th place in Interpretive and 2nd place in FreeSkate, giving her an overall Bronze Medal in the entire event.
In Starskate Senior Bronze Ladies, Hannah Ross stood centre podium with the Gold Medal.
Jessica Rummery placed 7th in Starskate Junior Bronze Ladies.
While in Starskate Preliminary Ladies, Elyse Gregory and Brooke MacLeod, both skated away with a Gold Medal in their respective flights.
During the Starskate Preliminary Men event, Joshua Andari captured the Gold Medal, while Zachary Stallaert received the Silver Medal in the same event.
Starskate Pre-Preliminary Ladies saw Gabrielle Doey and Emily Zimmer both receive top prize as they each got Gold Medals in their individual flights.
At the WO Preliminary Restricted Ladies events, Olivia Hunter skated to the podium with her Gold Medal, Sydney Hart shone with the Silver Medal, Rihana Kukkadi took the Bronze Medal, while Amanda Couture placed 4th and Mackenzie Faubert placed 5th, all in their own respective flights.
During the WO Pre-Preliminary Restricted Ladies events, a tied Bronze Medal was given to Sophie Luckhurst and Emma McGrail in the same flight, while Kailey O’Neill placed 4th in her own flight.
Lastly, during the Interpretive events, Olivia Stallaert took home the Gold Medal during Starskate Silver Interpretive. While during the Starskate Introductory Interpretive Men event, Zachary Stallaert captured the Gold and Joshua Andari took the Silver Medal. At the Starskate Pre-Introductory Interpretive Ladies events, Elyse Gregory skated away with the Silver Medal, while Emma McGrail placed 4th in their respective flights.
