Griffith Clinging to OHL Scoring Lead
Griffith currently has 31 goals, and 46 assists, good for 77 points, one more than Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds sniper Nick Cousins.
In the month of January, Griffith has four multi-point games, all three point games. His most recent came on January 24 when he scored a goal and added two assists against Ottawa. Sunday, Griffith scored against Kingston in a 3-2 win for his London Knights.
Griffith passed the former OHL scoring leaders Ryan Strome and Alex Galchenyuk when they travelled to Russia for the World Junior Hockey Championships. Galchenyuk made the Montreal Canadiens as the NHL season resumed and had one goal and two assists through his first four NHL games.
With close to twenty games remaining in the OHL season, it is conceivable that Griffith will break the 100 point mark for the first time in his OHL career. His London Knights are solidly in first place in the OHL and are the third ranked team in Canada.
After returning to the Erie Otters lineup, Thamesville’s Dane Fox has collected 19 points in 20 games, and leads the Otters in plus/minus with a plus five rating. Blenheim’s Kyle Hope has 12 goals and 10 assists for 22 points in 42 games for the Owen Sound Attack.
