For five Chatham Maroons, this playoff run will take on a slightly different look than anything they’ve experienced in their Junior hockey careers; that’s because, win or lose, this will be their last Junior playoff.

Sean Myers, Blake Blondeel, Evan Mascaro, Jake Flegal, and Brendan Morris will take to this ice this Thursday against the Lambton Shores Predators fighting to extend their Junior hockey careers, as the five players are graduating following this season.

Myers, has played five seasons with the Chatham Maroons and currently serves as the team captain. In his five seasons, Myers collected 225 points in 218 games and was a three time GOJHL All-Star. In 2011-2012, he received the Chester Pegg Memorial Award for Outstanding Ability and Sportsmanship at the GOJHL Western Conference award ceremony.

Blondeel, an assistant captain and four year veteran with the Maroons, has 136 points in 183 games. Blondeel was a GOJHL Western Conference All-Star this season, and is a graduate of the Dresden Jr. Kings.

Evan Mascaro, another Maroons assistant captain, also played four seasons with Chatham. He is a two time Western Conference All-Star.

Flegal and Morris both joined the Maroons this season. Flegal played in this season’s GOJHL All-Star game after captaining the Jr.A Cobourg Cougars last season. He has served as an assistant captain this season. Morris, joined the Maroons after playing three seasons with the Kitchener Rangers and Belleville Bulls of the OHL.

These five Maroons will be hoping for a long playoff run, which begins Thursday when Chatham hosts the Lambton Shores Predators in round one of the GOJHL’s Western Conference playoffs.
