Jones Not On The Scoresheet Yet, But Making an Impact
After suffering an offseason eye injury, Chatham’s Ryan Jones missed the first 16 games of the shortened NHL season.
Returning this past weekend, Jones has yet to hit the scoresheet in his first two games back, but has made an immediate veteran impact in the Oilers’ lineup.
In his first game, a 3-2 win over the Phoenix Coyotes, Jones played 14:03, including more than five minutes of penalty kill time.
“I think I was a little sick of not playing,” said Jones following his first game. “As soon as my vision came back, it was just a matter of waiting until I could get contact,” he stated about the recovery process.
Monday facing the NHL best Chicago Blackhawks, Jones saw his ice time climb to 16:05. The Oilers lost 3-2 in a shootout to Chicago.
Jones and the Oilers will take on the Dallas Stars Thursday and the St. Louis Blues Friday.
