Earle, Kucera Complete Perfect Season

Chatham-Kent Secondary School’s Lee Kucera and Julie Earle captured the SWOSSAA Junior Badminton Mixed Doubles championship Thursday in Leamington, completing their perfect season.

The CKSS Golden Hawks duo faced their toughest competition of the season, defeating WECSSAA champions Amy Liu and Andi Wang four straight games in the finals, to capture the SWOSSAA title.

Earle and Kucera won six tournaments in total this season, including SWOSSAA and KCSSAA, as well as locally hosted tournaments at CKSS, Pain Court, Chatham Christian, and John McGregor.

Pain Court’s Isaac Pinsonneault and Ben Bruhlman finished second in men’s doubles, while Julia Houle and Madeleine Myers, also of Pain Court, came in third in women’s doubles, and Macy Pinsonneault of Pain Court was third in men’s singles.

There is no OFSAA championship at the Junior level. Pain Court will host Senior OFSAA from May 2-4.
