James McEwan Selected in OHL Draft by Guelph

Chatham’s James McEwan was selected in the OHL draft by the Guelph Storm in the 9th round, 172nd overall on Saturday.

The grade 10 Ursuline College student was a standout forward for the Chatham-Kent Cyclones Minor Midget team this season.

In the regular season, McEwan led the Cyclones in scoring with 15 goals and 12 assists in 30 games. Four of his goals came on the powerplay where McEwan often played the point.

During the playoffs, McEwan was third in team scoring with 5 goals and 7 assists in 17 games.

McEwan attended the OHL Combine this March, where the province’s top 60 prospects congregate to be interviewed by OHL teams, and to have their fitness, and on ice skills evaluated.

McEwan played two games with the Junior B Chatham Maroons as an emergency call up this season, recording no points, and ten penalty minutes.
