Cowell, Roeszler Named Maroons’ Assistant Coaches
CHATHAM, May 1st – The Chatham Maroons today announced that Wayne Cowell and Tyler Roeszler have accepted positions with club as Assistant Coaches.
Wayne Cowell joins the Maroons staff from the Blenheim Blades where he has served as their General Manager since the 2011 season. He has previous experience with the Maroons as an assistant coach from 1989 to 1995 and 1996 to 1998. Wayne also service as the Maroons Director of Hockey Operations from 1998 to 2002.
During his coaching tenure, Wayne has had the privilege to coach many gifted and skilled players such as Brian Wiseman, Todd Warriner, TJ Brodie, Perry Pappas, Andy Delmore, and most recently, Ryan Jones.
Tyler Roeszler comes to the Maroons from the Chatham-Kent Cyclones where he was most recently the head coach of the Pee Wee Major team. Tyler played for the Maroons from 2004 to 2007 where he won two Western Conference championships and played in one Sutherland Cup. He led the league in scoring in the 2006/07 season with 113 points.
Tyler went on to play NCAA hockey at Cornell, where his team made the NCAA regional’s two out of the four years of his college career. He also played one year of professional hockey in Sweden. The Maroons are happy to have a former player return to the fold.
Both Cowell and Roeszler will be attending the Maroons Prospects camp to evaluate the players that will be invited back to the main camp. Roeszler will also be running a practice for the returning Maroon players from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday May 2nd, 2013.
