Hawks, Lancers Lose Finals
The Chatham-Kent Secondary School Golden Hawks, and Ursuline Lancers, both saw their OFSAA soccer hopes dwindle away this week.
The two teams suffered narrow losses in the SWOSSAA soccer finals, with the CKSS Golden Hawks falling to Belle River 3-2 in the ‘AAA’ final, the UCC Lancers losing in extra time, 1-0 to Windsor Holy Names.
Alicia Huckle and Sydney Gagner were the CKSS goal scorers, but the Hawks couldn’t hold off a late attack from Belle River, which saw Nobles striker Michelle Hunter score her second goal of the game, lifting her squad to the 3-2 win.
CKSS still has a chance to advance to OFSAA, as they host Villanova Friday in a challenge game.
