Carroll Hits Four At Dresden

JUNE 2, 2013- DRESDEN- Alfie Carroll had a great day at Dresden Raceway as he notched four winners on the day and moved into a tie for second place in the driver’s standings.

Carroll made his first trip to the winner’s circle in the third race aboard FOURTH L A, a seven-year-old PISTOLS AND SPURS mare owned by Shelley Kerr of Goderich and trained by Dennis Kerr. FOURTH L A paced the mile in 2:03 flat for her fifth win of the season.

Carroll’s second win came in the fifth race while driving SCHRADER HANOVER for owner trainer Karl McNaughton of Clinton. The six-year-old KEN WARKENTEN gelding paced the mile in 2:00.3.

DAYLON CHERISH was Carroll’s hat trick mount in the seventh race with a big move at the half to take the lead and never look back. The four-year-old MODERN ART mare is owned by Dave Morrissey of Alisa Craig and trained by Dan Morrissey.

Carroll picked up his fourth win of the day in the ninth race as he took SOUTHWIND WHISKI wire to wire in 1:57 flat. SOUTHWIND WHISKI is a five-year-old BETTORS DELIGHT gelding that is owned and trained by Jerry Sims of Denfield.

Carroll now has 20 wins on the year at Dresden and sits two behind Alex Lilley and is tied with Robert Sparling Jr in second place.

SOUTHWIND WHISKI turned in the fastest mile of the day pacing the local oval in 1:57 flat while the largest payout of the day was the ninth race triactor that paid $347.40.

Today’s Handle was $15,726.
