Two Wallaceburg Griffins Minor Lacrosse players, Emily Vandamme and Megan Seed won silver medals with Team Ontario at the Canadian Female Box Lacrosse Championships Sunday in Halifax.

Seed played for Ontario Junior Team, helping them to the gold medal game, where Ontario lost 12-4 to British Columbia. In six games Seed, a Sarnia resident who plays for the Wallaceburg Griffins Intermediate girls team, had one goal and two assists. Seed, who is studying nursing at Lambton College, had her best game of the tournament in an early 8-1 win over Alberta, when she scored her lone goal and added an assist.

Emily Vandamme played for the Ontario Midget Team, collecting her fourth medal, two golds and two silver, as a member of Team Ontario over the past seasons. VanDamme again starred for her team, leading them to the final, where Ontario fell 7-2 to British Columbia. VanDamme had a 2.60 goals-against average and one shutout in five games, good enough to be named an All-Canadian All-Star for the tournament.

VanDamme’s shutout came in a tournament opening route of Nova Scotia, 16-0. VanDamme plays minor lacrosse for the Wallaceburg Griffins Midget Boys team.
