Still No Contract For TJ Brodie
Brodie, who averaged the third most ice time on the Calgary Flames last season, playing more than 20-minutes per game, has been offered one and two-year contracts from Calgary Flames general manager Jay Feaster, but remains an unsigned restricted free agent.
Other comparable defenders in the league have been receiving 2-7 year contracts, worth up to $4 million per year, a huge hike from the $741,000 Brodie earned last season, and likely a far cry from what Feaster is offering.
The Flames GM has been stingy this offseason when it comes to the term of deal he’s signed his players to, offering shorter contracts than has been typical across the league.
In 47 games last year, Brodie scored 2 goals and added 12 assists, and is still only 23-years-old.
The Flames begin their 2013-2014 NHL season in the newly aligned Pacific Division October 3, as they travel to play the Washington Capitals.
