Free Concussion Workshop Coming To Chatham
The Chatham-Kent Public Health Unit will be hosting a free concussion workshop aimed to improve the knowledge of, and response to concussions in sports.
On September 12/13 from 7–9 p.m. at St. Clair College the group is hosting a workshop for Health Care Providers. Speakers include; Dr. Tator a highly respected neurosurgeon and the founder of Think First, Canada will provide an overview on concussions including how to make a diagnosis; Scott Haller the President and CEO of the Shift Concussion Management Program will share is his experience working with clients that have been concussed; and Dr. Ian Johnston chief of Paediatrics at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance will share with the audience a local perspective on concussions.
The next day, September 14/13 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at the St. Clair College HealthPlex, will be a workshop for coaches, athletes, families, trainers, teachers, referees, and the community at large. Speakers for this workshop include; Scott Haller with the Shift Concussion Management Program will be returning to share his work with the management of concussions; and Dave Inglis the Director of Operations of Sport Legacy Institute Canada will be bringing his unique educational program.
