Lakers Ready For New Season
Ten veterans and twenty-two prospects took to the ice to show their talent in Sarnia.
“I’m very pleased with the talent we have, and we also have a lot of young players who want to be Lakers,” said Wallaceburg Lakers head coach Kris Jacobs. “We are going to be a competitive team this season. I am happy with what I see and looking forward to seeing some of the players in the exhibition games.”
Among the players signed were veteran’s Lucais Meyskens and Scott Lubbers. The Lakers also signed rookie defenseman Mike Zottl. Zottl, who hails from Sarnia, was a 13th round selection of the OHL’s Mississauga Steelheads in last years draft, and will be Wallaceburg’s 16-year-old.
Jim McCrea, the Lakers’ general manager, commented that he is quite pleased with the camp and the group of coaches.
The Lakers take to the ice to play there first exhibition game August 29th in Mooretown followed by a game September 4 in Wallaceburg and then back to Mooretown September 7th. All games at 7:30pm starts.
