Chatham’s Alec Miller will compete this week as a member of the Ontario Youth Team at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke, Quebec.

Miller and his Team Ontario squad will open the tournament Saturday against Quebec at 1pm, before playing two games Sunday, against British Columbia and Alberta.

The Chatham-Kent Secondary School student is playing this summer for the U18 Windsor Selects, and has International experience representing Canada at the Sophomore Sunbelt Series baseball tournament in Oklahoma City, USA.

“He has a good glove and we expect good things for Alec in the future as the season moves along,” says Windsor Selects Manager and Third Base Coach Chris Soulliere.

Miller, who is 17, will play third base and pitch for Ontario.

Currently, Miller is batting .114 with 5 RBIs for the Selects, who have a 31-16-1 record in the Premier Baseball League of Ontario this season. The Windsor Selects program serves as a major development stopping stone for Ontario baseball players, with six athletes currently on the 18U Selects roster committed to NCAA scholarships.
