Sting Winning Streak Snapped
The Wallaceburg Sting have seen their 5-game winning streak snapped thanks in large part, to taking on the league’s top two clubs in its most recent games.
On Thursday, August 1, the Sting played on the road vs. London AEK, losing by a respectable score of 3-0. AEK’s first two goals were both the result of questionable calls made by the referee that led penalty kicks. AEK currently sit atop the premier division with 10 wins and 1 loss.
Next up, Wallaceburg travelled back to London on Monday, August 5, to take on Benfica, the premier division’s second place team. This would be the first game the Sting have ever played on artificial turf and it showed – losing by 6-0 margin.
The Wallaceburg Sting currently sport a record of 3 wins, 2 ties, and 7 losses. They sit sixth place in the ten-team premier division. The Sting next play on Thursday, August 8 at home vs. London Croatia. Kick-off at Kinsmen Park is set for 6:45 PM.
