Torrie Named Buffalo Sabres Head of Amateur Scouting
Charing Cross’s Dave Torrie has been promoted by the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres to their Head of Amateur Scouting. Torrie had been serving as a regional scout with the team since 2011.
Prior to moving to the Buffalo Sabres, Torrie had served as the general manager for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for eight seasons. He was fired only months prior to catching on with the Sabres.
Locally, Torrie coached and served as general manager of the Chatham Maroons, leading them to four straight Western Junior B Championships between 1998 and 2001, including one Sutherland Cup title.
Last season, the Buffalo Sabres missed the NHL playoffs finishing 12th in the Eastern Conference. In this year’s NHL draft, the Sabres selected Finnish blueliner Rasmus Ristolainen eighth overall.
